No matter which season we are in, Las Canteras is always ready to surf, whether the wind is from the north, east, west or south. The wave is there waiting for you to surf it.

I still remember the times when surfboards and boggys were not so common and we went to the Quarries, to the Cicer area to fatten the waves, as we said, bare chest, without having any idea or the good side, or whether it came from the left or the right.

The only thing that mattered to us was to feed the wave, catch it at the right time to reach the shore, without the wave rolling you at risk that you scrape any part of the body and leave the brakes to live flesh for a few weeks.

But surfing not only had the risk of getting you a good roll, but also had the risk that, with the enthusiasm, the current would take you out to sea and have to go out with the help of the few surfers who were in the area.

Even today, when the good weather arrives I go to the Cicer to relive those good moments, to let myself be carried away by the force of the sea and to feed the incredible waves of the beach of Las Canteras

¿Qué he visto en Netflix? Nuestro planeta

OPINIÓN

Ya comenté en mi entrada El bosque de Chernóbil que había visto el documental Nuestro planeta, una serie documental de ocho capítulos que da un repaso a nuestro planeta, analizando las distintas partes que lo componen, como los mundos de hielo, las selvas, las aguas costeras, los desiertos y las praderas, alta mar, agua dulce y los bosques.

Este repaso lo relata David Attenborough en la versión inglesa y Penélope Cruz en la versión española, poniendo el énfasis en lo maravilloso que son las partes que forman parte de nuestro planeta, pero al mismo tiempo, destacando el peligro que corren los animales que pueblan esas partes porque están desapareciendo.

Hoy, día 22 de abril, es el Día Internacional de la Madre Tierra y esta serie documental pone de relieve que nuestra madre está en peligro y que tenemos que hacer todo lo que esté en nuestra mano para protegerla porque de otra manera sus días están contados.

Una serie documental que hay que ver para reflexionar qué estamos haciendo con nuestro planeta.

OPINION

Last Sunday I saw in Netflix The Highwaymen, a film starring Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson, two actors with many films on their backs. This interpretative experience is manifested in the film, with good interpretative moments and others not so good, but the final result is a film that one lets oneself be loved on a peaceful Sunday afternoon.

The narrative is simple and direct, without any subtramatic vericueto that makes you lose the thread of the main plot, which is none other than capturing the mythical and miserable Bonnie and Clyde, putting on the table the other side of the coin that, on many occasions, is lost sight and more in the case of these two outlaws who became almost legends.

¿Qué he leído? La muerte del comendador (libro 1) de Haruki Murakami

OPINIÓN

Hacía mucho tiempo que no leía a Murakami y lo echaba de menos porque es un escritor que me encanta y he leído sus principales novelas.

Sabía que me iba a encontrar con una buena novela, aunque nunca leo las críticas, porque me gusta abordar la lectura sin contaminaciones de ningún tipo y con Murakami más, porque sé que es un escritor de primera categoría.

La muerte del comendador (Libro 1) me gustó mucho, desde las primeras páginas te encuentras con ese especial estilo de Murakami que te lleva por su narrativa sin casi darte cuenta y cuando eres consciente, ya has terminado el libro. Así es Murakami, adictivo.

El argumento de la novela es sencillo, sin muchas pretensiones, con un halo paranormal que le da un regusto extraño, pero que no molesta, sino que te envuelve y te atrae porque está construido con esa manera magnífica que tiene el escritor japones de contar historias.

SINOPSIS

El bosque de Chernóbil

La semana pasada terminé de ver la serie documental Nuestro planeta en Netflix. Un documental que nos relata de las maravillas de nuestro planeta, pero también no habla de cómo estamos acabando con él, si no tomamos medidas drásticas e inmediatas.

El último capítulo de este documental está dedicado a los bosques que están por el mundo, de lo importante que son para nosotros y que están en serio peligro. En la última parte de este capítulo se habla de Chernóbil y de la destrucción que supuso aquel desastre medioambiental que ocurrió el 25 de abril de 1986. La contaminación radiactiva fue tan brutal que acabó con la vida en el entorno de la central y se extendió a 120 kilómetros a su alrededor.

Por esta razón se evacuó a toda la población humana, se construyó el sarcófago de hormigón que cerró el reactor principal y hace 33 años que ningún humano vive allí. Lo abandonaron todo y dejaron a la naturaleza que resolviera su supervivencia en la zona.

La naturaleza tomó partido y comenzó a luchar contra el desastre que habían producido los hombres, se fue adaptando a las condiciones del medio y, al día de hoy, la zona de exclusión de Chernóbil es un gran bosque en el que la vida está por todos lados. Han vuelto los lobos, el caballo Przewalski, que estuvo al borde de la extensión, águilas, halcones, búhos, jabalíes, bisontes, ardillas y más de 400 especies de vertebrados y millares de plantas que han dado vida aun extraordinario bosque.

Esto demuestra que la naturaleza tiene una capacidad de recuperación increíble, que si la dejamos, es capaz de recuperarse hasta en las condiciones más extremas como las de Chernóbil, porque la naturaleza lleva en esta tierra millones de años y sabe cómo actuar para sobreponerse al peor de los desastres.

Entonces debemos tomar nota. Todo no está perdido. Debemos darle espacio a la naturaleza para que nuestro planeta se haga más sostenible y nos permita vivir a nosotros y las sociedades futuras. No hay otro camino.

What have I seen on Netflix? Love, Death & Robots

OPINION

Yesterday I finished watching Love, Death & Robots on Netflix and I did it in one sitting because the eighteen that the mini-series has, do not have a very long duration, the oldest are seventeen minutes long and the shortest (Yogurt to power) only six minutes.

As expected some chapters I liked more than others, but I have to say that I liked the miniseries in its entirety. The one I liked the most was "The Ice Age" and the one I liked the least was "The Witness".

I also liked very much the combination of all available resources, to present the chapters with the right doses, in my opinion, of violence, irrelevance and brazenness.

So if you haven't seen it, you're already taking a long time to sit on the couch.
