how I became a Steemit whale and I survived to tell it

Author's note: any resemblance to reality is purely coincidental.

This story started a few days ago, when I received a notice on my smartphone. I had received a Steemit transfer of $ 5,000,000 from Steem Dollars.
My heart started to speed up in an alarming way. I got to thinking that it would come out of my mouth, because I did not understand what the hell was happening. I thought that this transfer was due to a serious error that I would have to solve as soon as possible.
Without thinking about it, I turned on my laptop. I entered my account, praying that it would not hang up and I could check it, overnight, I had become a Steemit whale. Once inside my profile, I selected the wallet and verified that, indeed, there were the five million Steem Dollars that I had notified my smartphone application.
Without getting out of my wallet, I checked the transaction history of the last hours. There was a transfer:
Receive 5,000,000 SBD from Hesse
I looked for the user Hesse to find out who he was. I checked that he had a reputation of 75 and had signed up in Steemit in March 2016. Then I went into his wallet to see the history of his transactions. I verified that he had all his accounts to zero, and that his last transaction had been this :
«Transfer 5,000,000 SBD to moises-moran».
I froze again because that was the confirmation. I did not understand what had happened. I still thought that everything was due to a very serious error. Even to an act of hacking that had left the Hesse with nothing in its account and had turned it into an insignificant little fish. He  would be lost, forever, in the oceans of Steemit.
The first thing I did, without thinking for a moment, was to transfer the 5,000,000 SBD to Hesse, because I understood that they were his property.
I made the transaction of the money to its rightful owner. But after a few minutes, Hesse transferred the same amount of money to me again. He adding this enigmatic message:
" The little fish want to be whales. The whales also want to be little fish, to cross the ocean without another goal to enjoy life at sea. Enjoy your moment » .
I thought about what had happened.  I didn't understand what were the reasons why Hesse had detached himself from all his financial capital. It reminded me of the protagonist of a novel by Hermann Hesse , "The Glass Bead Game", in which his protagonist, becomes the maximum figure of the masters of the game, and when he gets it ...
After having assumed that I had become a whale, I understood the power I had. Not only when I published my first entry as a whale, but when I voted or commented on an entry that I found interesting, those I played with my magic wand, their post became the most visited and those that earned the most income.
I spent a few days enjoying the power and prestige of being a whale, publishing and distributing my votes as best understood. One dawn I understood that a whale, first a is little fish, then dolphin. Someday, if you swim a lot and you travel many oceans, you can become a whale.
So that same dawn, I entered my wallet to transfer the capital that Hesse had donated to me to solidarity projects in Steemit, but I did not find many. So, without thinking much, I converted the 5,000,000 SBD in dollars. I donated them to several organizations that dedicated to the protection of children, women, human rights, ecology, culture, education and poverty.
The next morning I woke up being again a little fish, who dreams of becoming a whale, but who knows that, for this, he has to work daily and try to create content of a certain quality, to make a little bigger this great community: Steemit.
After a while I received a transfer from Hesse from two SBDs and with the following message:
In the end you understood and acted . I was not wrong with you. I hope you get to reach your goal. You know the way.

The square metre of your comfort zone

He got up like every day, early and without hurry. He greeted his little dog Molly and prepared the coffee pot and put it in the glass ceramics. He undressed and went into the shower. He dried himself, put the towel on his waist and left when the coffeemaker began to whistle. He turned off the glass ceramic, closed the lid of the coffee maker, went to his room and dressed in his best suit.
He left his room with his suitcase. He went to the living room. Took the plane ticket that was on the table and looked at it for a moment. He felt his heart throb like a runaway horse. His little dog Molly was sitting next to him, wagging her tail, hoping he would take her out to the park. He touched his head and said:
—Today I can not get you out. I am sorry. At noon, Maria will come and give you a ride. I have to travel, Moly, I have a work meeting that I can not miss.
He left the plane ticket at the table, went to the kitchen and drank his coffee.
He got up and put the coffee cup in the sink, turned on the tap and put some water on it. He left the kitchen. Went to the living room, put on his jacket, took the ticket, the suitcase, opened the door and went out to the landing. He closed the door . He went to the elevator, touched the button to call him and waited.
He watched, with curiosity, how all the floors passed through the digital counter of the elevator. Without knowing why, he thought about his life, that, in the end, it was like an elevator, that going up and down, without any aim.
The elevator bell took him out of his reflection. The sliding door opened and he entered.
Soon he saw himself on the street, looked to one side and then to the other. He checked the time on his watch and went to the taxi stand that was at the end of the park.
He crossed the park, slowly, accompanied by the rattle of the wheels of his small suitcase, without removing from his head the elevator and his digital count.
When he reached the stop, he found that it was empty. There was not any taxi. He looked at the clock again. He thought that he would not be in time to the airport. For the first time in his life, he did not care.
He stayed there waiting for a taxi that to take him to the airport. Soon one arrived, but he turned around and retraced his steps.
Now he was not thinking about the digital counting of the elevator, or his work, or the meeting in that city that was more than three thousand kilometers away, or in the dismissal and in his severance pay, or even what he going to do with his life from that moment. He only thought of taking her dog Molly to the park that was in front of her house and the square meter of her comfort zone.

La hora del contraluz

Una de los aspectos que más me gustan de las fotografías es el contraluz porque le dan a la fotografía un aspecto distinto, resaltando partes del objeto de una manera sublime. La Palma, octubre de 2017.

Size does matter

I'm not going to talk about SEX. I'll tell you about the size of your blog posts on Steemit or any other platform.
Before getting into the subject, I would like to tell you that more important than size is knowing what we are going to say. You have to be clear, because that will help us to be more effective, direct and not entangle ourselves with what we want to say. Do not tangle up. Don't write a gibberish that nobody will understand.
For that reason it is important to make a preliminary scheme. A kind of script of what we want to tell, where it is clear, the planning, development and conclusion.
It is also important to be clear about the title of your entry, which will be direct, clear and not too long, no more than 67 characters.
Having said that, we are going to the heart of the matter.
There is a lot written about the matter. What size does a blog entry have to have?. That is, what number of words does an entry have to have to have a greater impact on our potential readers?
My method when I write an entry is based on these two premises:
The first is the number of words I will use. These words have to allow me to tell what I want to tell.  No more and no less. It is worthless to adjust to 1000 words and that the message of the article does not arrive clearly.
The second is, once satisfied with the content, reduce it as much as possible. Make an effort of synthesis. Without sacrificing, at all, the content.
I know, from experience, that texts of more than 2000 words are not very attractive. We must also say that every day we have less time. We only read only what interests us. If what interests us is well counted and in a concise way, then better. Baltasar Gracian said: "The good, if brief, is twice as good; and even bad, if a brief, not so bad. "
Therefore, and to conclude, I would  recommend you  that your entries be between 400 and 900 words. From my point of view, that is the ideal number for your entries to be read completely and reach the largest possible number of readers. Without forgetting, of course, what I told you before, that you are more than satisfied with the content, that you have used the right number of words to say what you wanted to say.
I hope this post was useful for you.
This text has 432 words.
